LITTLE CHEFS : EGG MAYO SANDWICH

egg mayo sandwich (demo)

cut into desired shapes

put second slice on top

spread the egg mayo

butter the bread

mix with mayo

mash the egg

We are making egg mayo sandwich today.

 

That was the original plan.

 

Thankfully, 

 

we did a demo early in the morning.

 

As a trial run. 

 

Turns out, 

 

our children, except for one, 

 

are not that into mayo.

 

So, change of plan.

 

We made the egg mayo sandwich 

 

for Dads and Moms instead, 

 

and our children had french toast.

 

Lol.

 

Yup, roti bakar ...

 

as correctly announced by 

 

our mickey girl, happily.  

french toast / roti bakar

here are some fresh eggs

butter

cut a slice of butter ...

for frying purposes.

the butter is a bit hard

we wait patiently

(teacher preparing our chef head gears)

heat butter up in our pot

we hear the sizzle

crack and beat the eggs

we are pouring the beaten egg ...

into a shallow plate.

 FRIDAY THEME : RED

dip one side of the bread into the beaten egg 

turn to the other side

the bread is nicely soaked in egg

gently drop the bread in 

let's wait ...

and see what happens.

the aroma is wonderful

the bread is turned over

all this waiting is making us hungry

the roti bakar is ready

is it ready?

can you smell that?

wahhh, what's that?

our french toast

sprinkle some icing sugar 

cut into little cubes 

hmmm, looks delicious

we can't wait to taste it

(in the mouth)

(had a few cubes after that)

children enjoyed the roti bakar

2nd activity : The Workshop

Egg & Mayo Sandwich

 

Peel the egg shell. 

 

Slice the egg. 

 

Mash the egg.

 

Add the mayonnaise.

 

Spread on the bread.

 

Cut the bread to desired shape. 

 

Hello, Egg. 

Let's crack you up.

Am I supposed to take out the bits of shell?

This is gonna take ages.

Hard-boiled egg.

Crack and peel the shell.

Mash up the sliced eggs.

 I see something inside.

Let go. This, I can do ... pound pound pound.

Hey, this looks like my kind of food. 

All cut up to tiny pieces. Let me try.  

Not too bad.

I could get used to this.

Gripping masher helps to enhance ...

muscle strength and coordination.

We have full control.

Transfer the mashed egg to a bowl.

Add mayonnaise and mix.

Hand-eye coordination skills in action.

Spread some butter on the bread.

We are excited to make this sandwich for ...

Dad and Mom.     Spread on the egg mayo.

Place the second slice of bread on top.

 

We are enjoying the hands-on experience  

of spreading butter on the bread, 

carefully, patiently and independently.

 

This activity helps us to improve our 

fine motor skills, hand-eye dexterity,

and overall concentration.
