A caterpillar hatches from an egg. |
He is very hungry and begins to look for food. |
On Monday, he eats an apple. |
On Tuesday, he eats two pears. |
On Wednesday, he eats three plums. |
Let's pretend the mangosteens are plums. |
On Thursday, he eats four strawberries. |
Munch. Munch. Munch. |
On Friday, he eats five oranges. |
On Saturday, he eats one piece of chocolate cake ... |
one slice of Swiss cheese, one pickle, one slice of salami ... |
one ice cream cone, one lollipop... |
one sausage, one piece of cherry pie ... |
one cupcake and one slice of watermelon. |
He is very full now. |
That night, he gets a stomach ache. |
We have a doctor at hand. |
He starts to examine the caterpillar. |
The doctor says, Go home and take this leaf with you. |
Eat the leaf and you will feel much better. |
The caterpillar eats the leaf, and feels better on Sunday. |
He is now a big fat caterpillar. |
He hangs himself upside-down ... |
and starts to spin a cocoon around himself. |
This cocoon is called a chrysalis. |
The caterpillar sleeps in the cocoon for about 14 days. |
During this time, magic starts to happen. |
Lo and behold! |
